A Textile Mill in MD

After a very sedate Saturday of sleeping, eating and watching movies, I was raring to go on Sunday when I met Emily for some exploring. We headed up I-95 to visit an abandoned textile mill. It was a sweltering day and we were glad to enter the cool dark buildings.  This was once a cotton textile and cotton print factory, and later made silk products also.
The floors in this building were treacherous and we had to be very careful stepping amongst the remains of the machinery. Before a fire destroyed the factory in 2003, the factory had converted to a board and carton company. These remnants of Black Clawson machinery were used for coating on packaging.
Lightbeams playing on the dusty floor.

In the middle of a dark building, sunlight poured through an opening and lit up this rusty electrical outlet.

Large openings in the ceiling once held either large machinery or vats.
We were totally engrossed in our photography, there was so much to look at, and would easily have spent the rest of the afternoon here, but Emily's phone rang, and we were invited to a boat party in D.C. so sped back to the car, promising to return to the factory soon.
