A Day of Celebration

After exactly a week, Kota Kat is back home. A friend and I had been walking around the neighborhood putting up more posters and less than an hour after I had got back, the phone rang. A family with a dog had found Kota roaming round their house and took him in. They'd had him for 3 or 4 days so I have no idea where he was the the first few days. I was so grateful to see that he looked healthy and not in the least bit stressed.
Prior to this joyful occasion, I'd had a phone call on the way home from work from a lady who thought she'd seen Kota on the side of a road. I had to drive to the spot and identify the body. Thankfully it wasn't my cat, but some poor owner is going to be dreadfully upset when they discover their pet.
Driving Kota home, I had to keep stroking and touching him. He seemed pleased to get home and after plenty of cuddles demanded his dinner, so of course, I hurried to comply. With a full belly he plopped into one of his chairs, had a quick wash then fell asleep. He slept for the rest of the evening and when I went to bed, he still didn't move, but continued to sleep of the stress of his escapades.

The following morning we continued our regular routine with him acting as though he'd never been away. I went to work happy and refreshed after my first good night's sleep in a week. The happiness followed me to the office. During the morning, two very good friends sent me a vase of sunflowers intended to cheer me up after a week of loss, but they instead became a celebratory gift. Bright and cheerfully yellow, they emanated good vibes. Later in the day, a lady called me offering help in finding Kota as she'd also once lost her cat for a week. After giving her the good news, we chatted for a long while about our feline friends, and I reflected on how lucky I had been to receive such wonderful support from friends and strangers.
After work, I rushed home to find Kota greeting me and demanding his bowl be filled. I happily set to the task, and leaving him to his dinner, I set out walking round the neighborhood, happily tearing down the 'Lost Cat' posters. I spent a lot of time thinking as I walked and realized that I really did have some wonderful friends but that also there are a lot of warm compassionate and helpful people out there, who I never would have had the fortune to meet if this incident hadn't happened. With the news filled with war, mass murders, recession and depression, I felt very privileged to have experienced in such a short time so many positive human characteristics which came forth because of the loss of a little furry cat. Welcome home Kota.
